Have you been looking for better results in your training? Do you feel like you are falling short? Can’t figure out why? There is one thing that will help you achieve your goals consistently and more efficiently. I know that if you don’t develop this one thing, then you are sure to continue to always fall short. You will make excuses and be more likely to quit and/or feel frustrated since you are not getting the results that you want.
That one thing? Habits! Habits are what will help you achieve your goals consistently. Notice how I didn’t say faster? That’s because there is no shortcut to any goal that you are trying to achieve. You must develop good habits and work hard.
Habits are what keep you going all the way to the end, habits will force you to continue even when you want to quit, habits are what you need to keep going when things get tough, and they will get tough. Anything worth achieving in your life will have obstacles, however if you create good habits to continue to move forward through these obstacles then you will be unstoppable. – James Clear
Whether you realize it or not you have already created some habits. Let me ask you this…
What time do you wake up every morning? What time do you go to bed? How many times do you pick up your cell phone even though no one has called or texted? What TV shows do you watch, or what books do you like to read? These are all habits that you have developed. I’m not saying that one is good or bad, I’m just pointing out the facts. I have them too and as soon as that dawned on me I realized I could change old habits as needed and create new ones.
If you want to start something new, write out a plan and stick to it. Make it part of your day to the point that you don’t even have to think about it. I myself am guilty of, or have been part of, 1,000 failures of focus due to bad habits.
Now write down your goals and some good habits that will help you achieve them. And as Jocko Willink says “Let’s get after it!”
As always, train hard, be a beast!
